Our 4th visit to this magical cottage. The moment we arrive, we relax, it’s truely home from home. Visit Sewerby and Flamborough, fantastic walking along the coast and great cycling along the sea front at Bridlington. Ventured up to Sandsend and Whitby and enjoyed wonderful winter sunshine. Karen, thanks for making this cottage so special.
September 2019 – Mary and Damian
Our 2nd visit to Spring Cottage and loved it once again, a great home from home . We enjoyed the beautiful weather over the weekend and made the most of the garden. Had a lovely mean in the pub ‘The Grapes’; first class food, would highly recommend. Visited Helmsley, Pickering, and Malton. also visited Eden Camp for the first time and it is well worth a visit. You will need around 6 hrs to visit, but can go back for a repeat visit on your ticket within 7 days. We did it over 2 days as lots to see. Thank you Karen for the balloons and birthday cake for Damian and welcome pack. Didn’t want to leave your lovely cottage. Hopefully not be long ‘til we are back again.
August 2019 – Slater family
Had a lovely week here. Visited Castle Howard, steam train to Whitby (and Goathland), Robin Hood’s Bay, Filey, Malton. Our best day was in York (park and ride) – York Chocolate Story, Harry Potter shopping in The Shambles and ‘Swallows and Amazons’ at the theatre. So much to do round here! Thank you for the lovely cottage.
August 2019 – Karen, Nick Josh
We loved the cottage, great size and layout for what we needed, a real home from home with a good local pub. We enjoyed Countryfile Live, Pontefract races and the North York Moors railway along with lots of walking.
July 2019 – The Finch’s
Our 2nd visit to Spring Cottage and just as relaxing as the 1st! Amber loved hunting through the toy box and enjoyed the Polly Pockets, Battleships and all the outdoor toys. We loved eating at The Grapes in the village, The Talbot and the new pizzeria in Malton. Visited Flamingo Land, Filey, Robin Hood’s Bay, Eden Camp, Castle Howard and York. You think of everything Karen; this place is still the best cottage we’ve ever visited. Enjoyed the goodies that were left and will miss relaxing in your garden watching the pigeon nesting and butterflies flying around. See you again Spring Cottage!
July 2019 – Collins Family

Lovely stay in Spring Cottage with my husband and 6 month old son. Great place to explore Yorkshire. Went to Malton, Helmsley, York and Filey. Cottage ideal for babies and children. We will be back!

Our 2nd stay at Spring Cottage. The cottage was perfect – thank you for the goodies and all the extra home comforts – we wanted for nothing! (apart from a bit more sun perhaps…) We enjoyed Bridlington, Castle Howard, Nunnington Hall, seeing the steam train at Pickering, a bit of walking and a bit of relaxing in the garden. We had a lovely welcome at The Grapes – twice – a good takeaway from Malton Spice and huge sandwiches in Yo Bakehouse tearoom in Malton. Thank you.
May 2019 – The Connell Family
Don’t look any further – this is the place to stay. Family of 4, we’ve had such a lovely time. Thank you. Everything has been thought of – showing just how caring the hosts are. Wow! Bedrooms super cosy and the garden was so pretty. Plus the swings are the icing on the cake!

We have had a fabulous time staying here. The cottage is fabulous. Everything has been thought of and the complimentary hamper was very much appreciated. We’ve really enjoyed exploring the area and sampling some of the local cuisine. Top tips from us; Trotters Farm Shop, Dalby Forest loop cycle ride (starts at Saltergate) and lovely coastal walk from Robin Hood’s Bay to Whitby (get bus back). Thank you Karen and family for letting us share this cottage and area. Your hospitality has been great and much appreciated.
March 2019 – Jane and Miles
What a beautiful cottage with such thoughtful touches. Thank you so much for a lovely home from home.
March 2019 – Anne and Martyn
A gem of a cottage! We have had a wonderful and relaxing week. We’ve enjoyed exploring the area in sunshine, wind and raid – and also just hiding from the rain in the cottage! Food at the pub in the village is also good -as was their welcome. We must return to see all the things we’ve missed – including the steam railway which has not yet opened for the season.
February 2019 – Sally, Stu, Sky and Cate
A gorgeous cottage with fabulous extra touches, thank you! We very much enjoyed our stay. Plenty to explore in the surrounding area and we managed to stay dry crossing the stepping stones at Egton Bridge! Off to Wharram Percy on our way home. Thanks again!
February 2019 – Alethea, Joe and baby Lily
We’ve had a wonderful week here at Spring Cottage – has been the perfect holiday before maternity leave ends 🙁 ! We do quite a lot of cottage breaks so are used to bringing lots from home with us but here you really don’t need to – there is everything! Lily loved the toys, books and swing. We loved the hamper on arrival and welcome information pack. Beautiful part of the world visiting Castle Howard, Whitby, Helmsley, Malton, Pickering and the garden at Spring Cottage of course! We wold love to return again. Thank you.
December 2018 – Mary and Fred
We had a wonderfully quiet time after the Christmas madness. Lots of long walks in the bright sunshine over the hills – hardly saw a soul! Grapes Inn was marvellous for New Year’s Eve dinner and we can recommend the name sake in Slingsby too. Thank you for all the treats and for the festive decorations. The cottage is perfect!
November 2018 – Fiona and Jon
Our second visit and again it was pure bliss. So cosy and comfortable, we didn’t mind the weather. Lovely food and welcome at the local pub and nice walks and fresh air. So lovely then to come back and chill in front of the fire with nice nibbles and wine!!
November 2018 – Sandra and Andy
Our third holiday in this perfect cottage and I love it as much as the first time. It’s so home from home, it’s just perfect, please never change the approach. Killer cycle ride around Castle Howard; only help was the lovely chocolate brownies in the welcome box. Definitely coming back in summer soon, so we can enjoy your garden.
October 2018 – Andy, Gina and Aaron
There is nothing we would change! We loved everything about the cottage, everything has been carefully considered and we loved the compliments on arrival, also catering to dietary needs. We will definitely return during warmer months as the garden is beautiful and in full bloom would be worth enjoying too. Thank you for our relaxing break.
October 2018 – Jude, Sandra and Susan
We came for a couple of ‘girly’ days away and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is beautifully located and has every need catered for. We can highly recommend the village pub for excellent food and service. Will definitely be coming back. Thank you!
September 2018 – Dolores & Fergus
Spring Cottage was a “home from home” for the week – a perfect base from which to explore this interesting region and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Only one word needed to sum up Spring Cottage from its initial information pack through to its location, decor, fixtures and fittings, garden and welcoming owners …. Superb!
September 2018 – Val and Chris
Have so enjoyed our holiday exploring this beautiful area. The cottage being so comfortable, cosy and well equipped has been the ‘icing on the cake’. Beautiful garden too.
August 2018 – The Halls
Lovely stay and everything we needed. Can be especially tricky travelling with little ones. Lots of toys, things to keep busy. Enjoyed our days thoroughly. Beautiful house, visited Flamingo Land, York Maze, Whitby, Scarborough beach.
August 2018 – Lorraine and family
What an absolute gem of a cottage which I quickly found myself calling home when we were out and about! So much to see and do here; particular highlights were York and the ‘pop up’ Shakespeare Rose Theatre, Hutton-le-Hole, Thornton-le-Dale and a trip west to the Bronte parsonage and museum.
August 2018 – Jo and John
Perfect place for a much needed break. Cottage very homely with everything we needed. Perfect weather to enjoy your lovely garden, village and pub (food very good!). Good place for bike rides too. Thanks Karen
July 2018 – The Cole Family
What an amazing cottage – it has everything you can think of. Really enjoyed the area. Recommend the steam train to Whitby and of course Filey seaside! Lovely meals at The Grapes Inn and Figaros in Pickering. The children have loved all the toys and we enjoyed playing new games. Will definitely recommend.
July 2018 – Tracey, Chris and Finn
Another fab holiday in this lovely cottage. Thanks again for all the treats, they were delicious. Weather has been great so definitely made the most of the gorgeous garden and the outdoor games. We’ve visited Flamingo Land, Levisham (The Horseshoe Inn – can highly recommend), Thornton le Dale, Helmsley and Malton. Love this cottage, can’t wait to return.
July 2018 – Clare and John
Had a great week in this lovely cottage – here visiting family so was a treat to come back to in the evenings. Great attention to detail, lovely goodies (thank you) and everything so well stocked. Visited Hunmanby Gap, Dalby Forest and a couple of beautiful cricket pitches to watch the grandchildren play in their league. Ate a lovely meal at The Grapes. And the weather has been stunning! (much cooler than in Suffolk!)
June 2018 – Lizzie and Michael
A lovely place to stay – pretty cottage and garden, well equipped and comfortable. Excellent walks and fun on the train to Whitby and visiting local towns and villages. National Trust property at Nunnington Hall was a great visit. Sadly the weather has not been BBQ suitable or good for lounging in the garden. However we had two great meals at The Grapes; experienced steak night – fillet steak for £15! Thank you Karen for all the Yorkshire goodies, including the lavender toiletries and for providing such a wealth of information to ensure a good holiday.
June 2018 – Diana and Andrew
The cottage is superbly equipped and well planned. We love the garden. We had 2 BBQs. We have been lucky with the weather. We ate in mostly because of the baby but had lovely days out; walked Helmsley to Rievaulx, visited Pickering Castle, Castle Howard grounds, had day out in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay, enjoyed Malton and also the Scampston Walled Garden. Thanks Karen it was a lovely happy week!
May 2018 – The Walker family
We have had the most wonderful stay in Spring Cottage. Everything you could of wanted supplied. The special little touches, welcome pack, flowers, wine etc. The garden is beautiful, it was so nice to spend our afternoons in there, Emilie loved the swing. We visited Whitby, Helmsley, Thornton le Dale to name a few. We enjoyed a stroll to The Grapes for a beverage. Would love to return!
April 2018 – Amanda, Andy, Freya and Harry
This was our second visit to the cottage and it was as superb as before. Weather unfortunately not that great but we had the warm time in the evenings to thaw us out! With two small children – love the fact that this cottage is so well equipped – from cot to cutlery! Saves me a huge amount of time. Hope to be back soon!
April 2018 – Martyn and Justina
This was our second visit to Spring Cottage and it was as fantastic as before. The weather has been dry most of the week and very hot the past couple of days. The cottage is a great base for exploring and we have been to the coast (Flossies tea room at Cloughton has fantastic views and is worth a visit), together with Staithes, Runswick Bay and Whitby. We also enjoyed Fountains Abbey and driving over the moors. Castle Howard is as lovely as ever, even in the heat! Thanks again Karen, we hope to be back again very soon.
April 2018 – The Foxall family
We had a great week’s stay at Spring Cottage. The views were amazing. We would recommend all National Trusts in the area.
March 2018 – The Holmes family
Wow! We have had a super lovely stay in this stunning cottage. The peace and tranquility (even with a 10 yr old and 8 yr old) was perfection. The cottage is amazing – comfortable, cozy, practical and well equipped. It’s a fab hub to experience a stunning area.
March 2018 – Tracy and Graham
Thank you Karen for a wonderful stay in a beautiful, relaxing and cosy cottage. We love it!
March 2018 – Geoffrey and Helen
The website, the booking process and the general impression said that this would be an excellent cottage for a restful holiday – and it certainly did not disappoint! The exceptional weather (Beast from the East) meant that we only ventured over the doorstep on three occasions – but the ambience of the cottage more than made up for the weather. Thanks for making this a really good holiday!
February 2018 – Jonathan and Sarah
We had a wonderful holiday in your beautiful cottage. The attention to detail was amazing and we didn’t want for anything. We didn’t want to leave this morning. Thank you so much and we look forward to re-visiting.
February 2018 – Mr & Mrs Hunt
Lovely cottage! For good food and hospitality we recommend The New Malton (in Malton!)
